Islamabad (Pakistan News): President Arif Ali Zardari stated that Pakistan is fully committed to promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. He emphasized that violence-based extremism is a serious violation of human dignity and that addressing its root causes is essential.
President Zardari highlighted that Pakistan adheres to the UN Convention on the Elimination of Violence and that the National Counter-Extremism Policy 2024 provides an effective strategy for prevention. He linked the counter-extremism policy to human rights and rule of law, noting that sustainable peace can only be achieved through education, dialogue, and social cohesion.
He expressed concern over the human rights situation in Kashmir and Palestine and called on the international community to strengthen cooperation under shared responsibility. President Zardari stressed that counter-extremism efforts will not malign any religion or culture, and that empowering youth is vital to curb radicalization. Families and communities serve as the first line of defense against extremist narratives.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also remarked that extremist and violent ideologies undermine societal peace and stability, weakening fundamental human values. On the occasion of the International Day, Pakistan reaffirmed its resolve to combat all forms of terrorism, hatred, and violent ideologies with full strength.
