Pakistan and Kazakhstan Sign 19 Agreements

Islamabad (Pakistan News) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan upon his arrival at the Prime Minister’s House. A guard of honor was presented to the Kazakh President, and the national anthems of both countries were played. Prime Minister Sharif introduced the guest to members of the federal cabinet, while President Tokayev introduced his delegation to the Prime Minister.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by senior officials and diplomatic delegations from both countries. Following the ceremony, a high-level meeting was held between Prime Minister Sharif and President Tokayev, during which they held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments, and ways to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. Both leaders agreed to further strengthen ties.

After the meeting, a signing ceremony was held in which Pakistan and Kazakhstan signed 19 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements. These covered cooperation in UN peacekeeping missions, mining and petroleum partnerships, prisoner exchanges, maritime sector collaboration, transit trade, customs, and railways.

Both countries also agreed to cooperate on climate change, virtual assets, protection, and veterinary sectors, and an MoU was signed for partnership in artificial intelligence and digital development. Officials noted that these agreements will help promote technical and digital collaboration in the future.

The ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.
