Pakistan and Asian stock markets surge sharply following Trump’s statement

Karachi (Commerce Desk): Following US President Donald Trump’s statement that the conflict with Iran could end soon, stock markets across Asia, including Pakistan, witnessed a significant surge.

On the third day of the trading week, the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s KSE-100 Index opened with a gain of 7,461 points, reaching 156,233 points, prompting the exchange to halt trading for one hour. The previous day, the index had closed at 148,743 points, recording a 1,900-point increase.

Other Asian markets also showed positive trends: South Korea’s KOSPI Index rose by 5.5 percent, Japan’s Nikkei Index gained nearly 5 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index increased by 2 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose by 1.5 percent, and Malaysia’s FTSE Bursa Index recorded a 1 percent gain.
