Islamabad (Pakistan News): The fourth Climate Conference 2026 under the OICC was held in Pakistan, highlighting the growing threats posed by environmental changes. The conference emphasized that climate-related challenges have become a major concern for the country.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, addressing the event, said that the 2022 floods made it clear that Pakistan is being significantly affected by climate change. He stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to take joint measures to mitigate climate risks.
The finance minister noted that the government is undertaking various initiatives, and the conference aimed to raise awareness and explore solutions. Experts in energy, finance, and environmental sectors also participated in the discussions.
He further stated that Pakistan has access to the IMF’s $1.3 billion Climate Fund, as well as climate facilities from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, to address climate challenges. Plans are also in place to reduce risks through public-private partnerships.
Aurangzeb added that Pakistan is part of a 10-year, $3 billion program with the World Bank, and similar facilities are available from the Asian Development Bank and other international organizations.
