Mahmood Khan Achakzai Appointed Opposition Leader in National Assembly

Islamabad (Pakistan News): In a National Assembly session, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced the appointment of Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the Opposition Leader. The session began under the chairmanship of the Speaker, who stated at the start that there would be no question hour today.

During the session, the Speaker called the Chief Whip to his chamber for the notification of the Opposition Leader and asked Aamir Dogar to come and receive the notification. Later, the Speaker officially announced Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the Opposition Leader.

During the session, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarrar presented the Pakistan Nursing Council Ordinance in the National Assembly. Additionally, the Export Development Fund Amendment Bill 2026, Imports and Exports Act Amendment Bill, Pakistan Telecommunication Reorganization Amendment Bill, and Life Insurance Nationalization Amendment Bill were also presented.

The Law Minister further presented the Export Development Fund Amendment Bill 2026, Export-Import Bank of Pakistan Amendment Bill 2026, Pakistan Telecommunication Reorganization Amendment Bill, Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Amendment Bill, Alternative Dispute Resolution Amendment Bill, and the Islamabad Regional Ownership and Management Bill in the National Assembly.

Later, a PTI delegation led by Chairman Barrister Gohar visited the Speaker’s office. Barrister Gohar stated that the Speaker had summoned them today to receive the notification. He added that the Opposition Leader’s position had been vacant since August 7, and it was their legal right to fill it.
