Islamabad (Pakistan News) – The Islamabad High Court has postponed the hearing on the suspension of sentences for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case until Monday.
The hearing was conducted by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif, during which the lawyers, Barrister Salman Safdar, NAB Special Prosecutor Javed Ashraf, and Rafiq Maqsood appeared in court.
The NAB Special Prosecutor argued that suspension of sentence requests cannot be heard without notices on the appeals, while Barrister Salman Safdar contended that the sentences were handed down nearly 14 months ago, during which the prosecution repeatedly filed requests for adjournment.
Safdar informed the court that Bushra Bibi was on bail during the trial and has medical grounds as well, which is why the requests for suspension of sentence and release on bail were filed.
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar noted that the court can schedule hearings only two days a week, prompting Salman Safdar to request time to take instructions from the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. The court rescheduled the hearing for Monday for further proceedings.
