Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza Blasphemy Case Hearing Adjourned to April 7

Islamabad (Pakistan News): The Islamabad High Court has adjourned the hearing in the blasphemy case involving Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza until April 7, concerning the suspension of the Islamic Ideology Council’s opinion declaring him guilty. The court has also requested assistance from the Attorney General for the next hearing.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted the hearing on the petition filed by Aslam Khaki challenging the council’s opinion. Despite the court’s orders, the Attorney General of Pakistan could not appear, with Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghuman informing the court that the AG was unavailable due to other commitments but that the Additional Attorney General could attend if needed.

Justice Kayani clarified that only the Attorney General could appear, noting that the court had previously insisted on the AG’s presence to provide judicial assistance.

The Assistant Attorney General requested the court to fix the next hearing date, and the court adjourned the case to April 7. Present at the hearing were petitioner Aslam Khaki, lawyers of the Islamic Ideology Council, and other officials. The petitioner has challenged the council’s opinion that Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza committed blasphemy.
