Cold Intensifies Across the Country After Snowfall and Rain, Tourists Flock to Hill Stations

Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): Cold weather has intensified in various parts of the country following snowfall and rain, prompting people to head towards tourist destinations.

The first snowfall of the winter season was recorded in Galiyat, Nathia Gali, and Thandiani, while rain in Abbottabad, Mirpur, and surrounding areas led to a noticeable drop in temperature. Islamabad also experienced colder weather after rainfall.

Light drizzles were reported in different areas of Lahore, while Sargodha and its surroundings witnessed light to heavy rain. Cold conditions also intensified in Peshawar, Mardan, and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after rainfall. In Kalam and Malam Jabba of Swat, snowfall continued for the second consecutive day.

In Balochistan, intermittent snowfall and rain were reported in Ziarat, Chaman, Kan Mehtarzai, Toba Achakzai, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Qalat, and other areas.

Authorities said that further snowfall is expected tonight and on January 1 in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, and Kohistan, while snowfall is also likely in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, and Skardu.

Due to snowfall and rain, there is a risk of road closures and traffic disruptions because of slippery conditions. Chances of landslides and avalanches remain in the mountainous regions of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Meanwhile, a decline in fog intensity is expected in Punjab and upper Sindh.
