PTI challenges media advertising with PM Shehbaz, CM Maryam.

PTI chief organiser Aliya Hamza Malik has petitioned the Lahore High Court over media ads portraying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Ms. Malik’s counsel filed a petition objecting to the PM and CM utilising public monies for personal promotion, violating the Supreme Court’s order.

No policy exists for government project ads, according to the petition. It claims public expenditures for personal publicity are unconstitutional.

The petition also claims that public projects promote personal gain, contradicting the Supreme Court.

Therefore, the court should order the government to follow the Supreme Court’s advertisement verdict, it says.

The petition requests a government advertising strategy and the restitution of public monies spent for personal publicity.

The LHC has already served the government with two similar petitions challenging a 60-page press advertisement supplement showcasing CM Maryam and the alleged exploitation of public monies for her and her father’s personal notoriety.

Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Ahmad Khan Bhachar and activist Ashba Kamran filed the petitions.
