The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) could resume from May 17 to 25, provided foreign players agree to return after leaving amid escalating conflict with India. The league was initially postponed when tensions peaked, including an incident involving an Indian drone near Rawalpindi Stadium.
All six franchises are currently in talks with overseas players to confirm availability. The final decision rests with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and will be based on reports from the franchises. If the players commit, Rawalpindi is expected to host the remaining eight games.
Broadcasters are on standby and ready to proceed once player availability is confirmed. However, doubts remain over Australian players’ return, especially after their mass departure from both PSL and IPL during the crisis. Meanwhile, India’s IPL is set to resume on May 17 after receiving clearance from security agencies.
Bangladesh’s upcoming T20 tour to Pakistan overlaps with the PSL window. Their cricket board has not yet confirmed the tour, while some Bangladeshi players involved in the PSL returned home and publicly apologized for controversial remarks about fellow players. Spinner Rishad Hossain clarified his comments, stating they were taken out of context, and reaffirmed his commitment to the team spirit of Lahore Qalandars.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, one of the players mentioned, denied the claims and expressed hope that cricket would soon return under peaceful circumstances.
