PSL foreign players remain in Pakistan amid border tensions

Foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have decided to stay in Pakistan, despite escalating tensions between Pakistan and India. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reassured players about their safety, emphasizing robust security measures provided by Pakistan’s armed forces.

PCB officials reported that foreign players met PSL chief Salman Naseer to discuss the current situation informally. While recent cross-border military activity has caused concern, the PCB does not anticipate disruptions to the tournament’s remaining matches. There are backup measures in place, though, in case things go worse.

Cricket boards from Bangladesh, England, and New Zealand are closely monitoring the situation to ensure their players’ safety. Bangladesh’s cricket board expressed confidence in the security measures but has taken a wait-and-see approach before making specific decisions.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has left the decision to stay or leave to individual players after providing them with updates and guidance. Similarly, New Zealand Cricket assured it would continue to evaluate the situation and offer timely advice.

Despite the tensions, the PSL looks to conclude without major disruptions, showcasing unity and resilience in the face of external challenges.
