PSL 2026 to feature two new teams and expanded fan base

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to expand from six to eight teams starting in the 2026 season, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This expansion aims to broaden the league’s appeal and provide more opportunities for emerging cricket talent.

The PCB has officially announced that the 2025 season will be the final one featuring six teams, with two new franchises joining in 2026 to transform the PSL into an eight-team competition. The PCB is also considering shifting the PSL schedule to April and May, potentially overlapping with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This move is intended to optimize viewership and accommodate international players.

With the addition of new teams, the PSL aims to reach a wider audience, enhancing fan engagement both domestically and internationally. This expansion reflects the PSL’s growth and its commitment to elevating the standard of cricket in Pakistan, offering fans more thrilling matches and fostering the development of cricketing talent.
