On March 23, 2025, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred civil awards upon 69 individuals, both Pakistani and foreign nationals, in recognition of their outstanding contributions across various fields. The investiture ceremony, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, coincided with Pakistan’s Republic Day celebrations.
The awards acknowledged achievements in sectors such as health, education, literature, journalism, public service, research, diplomacy, and the economy. Notably, the late former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was posthumously honored with the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian award, which was accepted by Sanam Bhutto on his behalf.
Foreign recipients included Hyder Qurbanov and Dr. Christine Brunhilde, who were awarded the Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam. Agostino Da Polenza and Professor Valeria Picacentini received the Tamgha-e-Pakistan, while Dr. Xinmin Liu was honored with the Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam.
