PM to reveal relief on electricity prices soon

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to introduce a significant reduction in electricity rates within a few weeks. Speaking on Saturday, he emphasized that the government would ensure maximum financial benefits for the public by lowering electricity costs while keeping petroleum prices steady.

A relief package is under development as part of broader measures to combat inflation and ease the financial burden on citizens. The PM assured that these changes would not only bring electricity prices down but also help curb inflation across the board.

Additionally, the PM highlighted the establishment of Daanish University of Emerging Sciences in Islamabad. Set to focus on cutting-edge fields like AI and robotics, the institution aims to elevate Pakistan’s position in global education and innovation. Scheduled to open its doors on August 14, 2026, the university will operate autonomously, with merit-based admissions and a trust-funded model to assist underprivileged students.

The PM also acknowledged the recovery of £190 million in fraud-related funds, which will be allocated to developing the university. He reaffirmed his commitment to quality education and sustainable progress as key factors for Pakistan’s prosperity.
