PM Shehbaz unveils Rs20 billion Ramadan relief for Pakistani families

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a Rs20 billion Ramadan relief package to assist four million underprivileged families across Pakistan. Under this initiative, each household will receive Rs5,000 via digital wallets, ensuring a transparent and efficient distribution process.

This year’s package marks a significant increase from the previous Rs7 billion allocation, showcasing the government’s commitment to easing financial burdens during the holy month. The program will be implemented through a collaboration between the State Bank of Pakistan, NADRA, and technology institutions to streamline the disbursement process.

In a notable change, the government has excluded Utility Stores Corporation (USC) from the distribution system due to past concerns over corruption and the supply of low-quality goods. Instead, relief funds will be provided directly to beneficiaries using data from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), ensuring that aid reaches the most deserving families.

During the announcement, PM Shehbaz also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to national security, vowing to continue efforts to eliminate terrorism from the country. He emphasized that Pakistan’s well-being depends on both economic relief measures and a secure environment for its citizens.

This initiative reflects the government’s dual focus on economic support and security, aiming to provide essential relief to struggling families while maintaining stability across the country.
