Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in London on Friday night following the conclusion of his official visit to Belarus. He is in the UK for a brief two-day stay, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to reach the British capital on Saturday for a two-week visit.
The premier landed at Luton Airport late Friday evening and is scheduled to remain in London over the weekend.He will go back to Pakistan on Sunday night time to wait the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by PML-N UK leaders Ahsan Dar, Rashid Hashmi, and Khurram Butt.
According to PML-N sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz has medical checkups scheduled for Saturday and two meetings planned for Sunday. He has been receiving routine health evaluations in London for several years. Before departing for Pakistan, he is expected to meet his elder brother Nawaz Sharif at the Avenfield flats.
During his visit to Belarus, Prime Minister Shehbaz revealed that the country had extended a “generous offer” to welcome over 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers to contribute to its nation-building efforts.
The official trip to Belarus was undertaken at the invitation of President Alexander Lukashenko and included Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The visit followed President Lukashenko’s tour of Pakistan in November 2024, during which both countries signed over a dozen key memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
