PCB dismisses Jason Gillespie’s payment allegations

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied claims made by former head coach Jason Gillespie regarding unpaid dues for his nine-month stint. In December 2024, Gillespie abruptly resigned without giving the required four months’ notice as stipulated in his contract, according to PCB’s statement.

Gillespie, who was appointed in April 2024, stepped down after reported disagreements with the PCB. His public criticism of the board, particularly its operations and interim white-ball coach Aqib Javed, has garnered attention. Addressing these, PCB asserted that Gillespie was fully aware of the contractual obligations he breached by departing prematurely.

The Australian ex-cricketer expressed disappointment in his tenure with the PCB, revealing it diminished his passion for coaching. “My Pakistan experience made me question if I want to coach full-time again,” Gillespie said during an interview, labeling the episode a personal setback.

Criticism of PCB’s frequent changes in leadership roles has been mounting. Cricket analysts have attributed the national team’s inconsistent performance to this lack of stability within the organization.

The PCB reiterated that all terms were transparent and legally binding, dismissing Gillespie’s allegations as baseless. The board urged focusing on the future of cricket in Pakistan amidst these controversies.
