Pakistani designer HSY steps into Hollywood with Disney+ series ‘Deli Boys’

HSY, a famous Pakistani couturier, made his Hollywood acting debut in the Disney+ series ‘Deli Boys’. HSY designed costumes for episodes eight and nine, becoming the first Pakistani designer to do so for a Hollywood project.

On March 6, 2025, Hulu and Disney+ premiered ‘Deli Boys’, a dark comedy about legacy, crime, and intricate family connections. Asif Ali and Saagar Shaikh play Mir and Raj, two pampered Pakistani-American brothers whose lives are upended by the abrupt death of their convenience store billionaire father. The brothers must deal with tax evasion and cocaine smuggling after discovering their father’s illicit activities.

HSY styled key actors Poorna Jagannathan, Saagar Shaikh, and Zainne Saleh, adding real South Asian aesthetics to the show’s visual narrative. HSY said, “Designing for ‘Deli Boys’ has been exciting, but my Hollywood debut makes it even more significant. More than fashion, this cooperation is about representation. I’m proud to show the world true South Asian designs in a mainstream Hollywood production.”

Before this international venture, HSY acted in Pakistani films. His television début in 2021 was ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’ on ARY Digital, playing Akram, a character very different from his fashion persona. He played a villain in ‘Ishrat Made in China’ in 2022.

‘Deli Boys’ is lauded for its distinctive blend of humour and roughness, complex South Asian characters, and culturally relevant storyline. In one episode, ‘Queer Eye’ star Tan France plays a London gang leader.
