Pakistan plans revision of CSS exam structure for 2026

Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, has announced forthcoming reforms to Pakistan’s Central Superior Services (CSS) examination system, aiming to implement changes by 2026. Addressing the Senate on March 11, 2025, Tarar emphasized the need for a fair and standardized examination framework that accommodates candidates from diverse educational backgrounds.

A high-level committee, led by planning minister Ahsan Iqbal, has been tasked with revising the CSS exam structure. The committee has completed most of its review, with final recommendations expected soon. The objective is to create an equitable system that does not favor any particular education system, ensuring all candidates have an equal opportunity to succeed.

The proposed reforms are anticipated to modernize the examination process, reflecting contemporary educational standards and fostering inclusivity in Pakistan’s bureaucratic recruitment system. If approved, the revised CSS exam structure could be implemented as early as 2026.
