Pakistan has been elected to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term, from 2026 to 2029, following a vote at the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN thanked member states for their support, calling the election a reflection of international confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to global drug control efforts.
The mission highlighted Pakistan’s active role in combating drug trafficking, production, and use, and its consistent participation in UN policy dialogues. It reaffirmed the country’s readiness to contribute effectively to global narcotics control and to strengthen the CND’s role in ensuring comprehensive and coordinated international action in line with UN drug control conventions.
