Pakistan and UAE join forces to boost logistics

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has greenlit a joint venture between Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and UAE’s DP World to enhance the country’s logistics sector. The venture, with NLC holding a 60% share and DP World 40%, focuses on modernizing road freight logistics by combining NLC’s local expertise with DP World’s global supply chain solutions.

DP World, a global leader in logistics, will improve infrastructure at Qasim International Container Terminal and contribute to initiatives like the Karachi Freight Corridor. Backed by Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the partnership is set to advance transport efficiency, reduce costs, and increase trade.

The CCP confirmed that fair competition would continue in the market, despite the collaboration. The venture is a signal of Pakistan’s rising appeal for foreign investments, aligning with its long-term goals for economic growth and modernization.
