Pakistan and Kuwait strengthen economic ties during bilateral talks

On May 14, 2025, the fourth round of the Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Kuwait took place in Kuwait City, with a focus on enhancing collaboration in the areas of trade, investment, and human resource development. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat led the Kuwaiti team, while Shehryar Akbar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary for the Middle East, led the Pakistani delegation.

During the discussions, both nations reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral relations, including consular services and people-to-people exchanges. They expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of their relationship and agreed to deepen engagement across various sectors of mutual interest. The delegations also exchanged views on regional and international issues, reaffirming their commitment to ongoing cooperation and consultation.

In light of Pakistan’s recent efforts to bolster its economy, the country has been actively seeking to expand foreign trade and investment, particularly with Gulf nations. The establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), a joint civil-military initiative, aims to attract international investment in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, livestock, and minerals.

The next round of BPC is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on mutually agreed dates, continuing the momentum of high-level interactions between the two countries.
