The documentary “No Other Land,” co-directed by Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, has won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. The film portrays the Israeli army’s displacement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank’s Masafer Yatta region, depicting the demolition of homes and eviction of residents to establish a military training zone.
In their acceptance speech, the filmmakers emphasized the strength of their collaboration, with Abraham stating, “We made this film, Palestinians and Israelis, because together our voices are stronger.” Adra called on the global community to take action against the ongoing “ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.”

Despite its critical acclaim and international recognition, “No Other Land” has faced distribution challenges in the United States, which the filmmakers attribute to political reasons. The documentary has been independently released in nearly 100 theaters worldwide.
The film’s Oscar win is a significant milestone for Palestinian cinema and underscores the power of collaborative storytelling in shedding light on complex geopolitical issues.
