New Zealand defeats South Africa to set up Champions Trophy final against India

In a commanding performance at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, New Zealand secured a 50-run victory over South Africa in the Champions Trophy semi-final, earning a spot in the final against India.

Batting first, New Zealand posted a formidable total of 362-6. This achievement was anchored by centuries from Rachin Ravindra (108 off 101 balls) and Kane Williamson (102 off 94 balls), who shared a pivotal 164-run partnership for the second wicket. Their efforts set a new Champions Trophy record for the highest team total.

South Africa’s chase was met with resistance from New Zealand’s bowlers, particularly captain Mitchell Santner, who claimed 3-43 with his left-arm spin. Despite a valiant unbeaten 100 from David Miller off 67 balls, South Africa fell short, concluding their innings at 312-9.

This victory propels New Zealand into the final against India, scheduled for March 9 in Dubai.
