Nayab selected for South Asian International Film Fest

The South Asian International Film Festival in Florida will be screening Nayab, a Pakistani film directed by Umair Nasir Ali. The sports drama features Yumna Zaidi, Javed Sheikh, and Usama Khan and is part of a 26-film lineup that also includes Binodiini and Me, Raani. While her brother faces his own cricketing past, the plot follows Nayab, a driven Karachi girl who aspires to play cricket for Pakistan and overcome stereotypes.

The Pakistani culturally grounded story of perseverance, family, and ambition, Nayab, which premiered in January of last year, has already caused a stir at international film festivals. Director Umair Nasir Ali reflected on the film’s first anniversary and discussed the personal and professional development he had while working on it, from directing actors to writing an emotional story.

Ali expressed his delight in witnessing Nayab resonate with audiences throughout the world and thanked his dedicated crew for making the film a reality. The international acclaim for Pakistani filmmaking talent is further demonstrated by the film’s selection.
