National games rescheduled for December

The 35th edition of the National Games, initially set for May, has been postponed to December as a result of the extreme heat in Karachi. The event is now scheduled to take place from December 6 to December 13 and will mark Sindh’s first time hosting the prestigious games in almost two decades.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah recently convened with officials from the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) he emphasized the province’s commitment to providing athletes with high-quality facilities, including modern infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare support, to ensure the event is carried out to a high standard.

An official relationship was formed between the Sindh government and the Sindh Olympic Association through a Memorandum of Understanding. The games are expected to attract over 10,000 participants, including athletes, officials, and veterans, who will compete in various events across 21 venues.

This delay has provided much-needed time to upgrade and enhance sports facilities in Karachi, ensuring the city’s readiness to host an event of this magnitude.
