Mohsin Naqvi becomes new head of Asian Cricket Council

On April 3, 2025, Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was appointed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). This appointment aligns with the ACC’s rotational leadership policy among member nations.

In his new role, Naqvi emphasized Asia’s pivotal role in global cricket and expressed his commitment to collaborating with member boards to advance the sport’s growth and influence. He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Shammi Silva of Sri Lanka, who served as ACC President following Jay Shah’s elevation to ICC President on December 1, 2024.

Silva reflected on his tenure, highlighting the collective efforts that enhanced the ACC’s regional stature. He expressed confidence in Naqvi’s leadership to further the council’s progress.

The PCB noted that under Naqvi’s guidance, the ACC aims to promote cricket across Asia, focusing on development programs and youth engagement to elevate the sport’s prominence.

Naqvi’s extensive background includes serving as Pakistan’s Interior Minister since March 2024 and founding the City Media Group. His diverse experience is anticipated to bring a strategic vision to the ACC.

The ACC, established in 1983, continues to play a crucial role in uniting Asian cricketing nations, and Naqvi’s leadership is expected to further this mission.
