Mohsin Naqvi announces PSL matches to restart on May 17 after conflict delay

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) will resume on May 17, following a temporary halt due to regional conflict with India. The final is set for May 25.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi shared optimism for the tournament’s return, encouraging fans to “celebrate the spirit of cricket.”

Franchise teams are now in talks with their overseas players — who were evacuated over the weekend — to confirm their availability. Rumour has it that all remaining matches will be hosted in Rawalpindi.

The PCB remains confident about foreign players’ return, particularly since no international commitments coincide with the new schedule. However, some hesitation is expected from Australian players amid ongoing security concerns. Several Aussies had already left the region, though some — like ex-cricketer Ricky Ponting — reversed their departure plans after the ceasefire.

The final schedule will be released once all player confirmations are secured and cleared by the PCB chairman.
