Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has praised a recent move by FM radio stations across the country to stop broadcasting Indian songs, calling it a “patriotic step” that reflects national solidarity.
This decision, made by the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA), comes in light of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India. The Information Ministry formally appreciated the PBA’s stance through a letter, describing it as a reflection of public sentiment and a reaffirmation of cultural and national values.
The suspension of Indian music on Pakistani airwaves is being viewed as a symbolic gesture in response to India’s ongoing efforts to isolate Pakistani content from its own media space, including the restriction of Pakistani artists on social platforms.
The minister emphasized that during sensitive times, such decisions help unite the country and send a clear message of self-respect and cultural independence.
