The Lahore High Court (LHC) has implemented a biometric verification system for case filings in the district judiciary, aiming to curb the submission of fraudulent cases. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum announced this initiative during a meeting with representatives from district and tehsil bar associations.
Under the new system, petitioners are required to undergo biometric verification before filing a case. A person suing can complete biometric authentication and ensure the truthfulness of court procedures if they are able to come in to sign documents, Justice Neelum stressed.
Additionally, the daily cause list is now accessible through the LHC mobile application, allowing lawyers and litigants to view real-time updates on case hearings. Plans are also underway to install LED screens outside courtrooms to display live cause lists, enhancing transparency and convenience.
This move aligns with directives from the Supreme Court and has been well-received by legal professionals committed to merit-based practices. Justice Neelum reaffirmed the LHC’s dedication to modernizing judicial processes to deliver swift and quality justice.
