On May 25, 2025, Lahore Qalandars clinched their third Pakistan Super League (PSL) title in four seasons by executing a remarkable chase against Quetta Gladiators at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The Qalandars had to score 57 runs from the last 20 balls against a formidable 202-run target. Kusal Perera’s unbeaten 62 off 31 deliveries, featuring four sixes and five fours, alongside Sikandar Raza’s quickfire 22 from seven balls, propelled Lahore to victory with just one ball remaining.
Sikandar Raza’s contribution was particularly noteworthy, as he had arrived at the stadium merely 10 minutes before the toss after completing a Test match in England. Despite the tight schedule, Raza’s immediate impact, including a six over point in the final over, was instrumental in the Qalandars’ win.
Earlier in the match, Quetta Gladiators posted a competitive total of 201/9, bolstered by Hasan Nawaz’s 76-run innings. Lahore’s captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, led the bowling attack effectively, claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs and setting the tone by dismissing Quetta’s captain, Saud Shakeel, early in the innings.
This victory marks Lahore Qalandars’ third PSL championship, solidifying their status as one of the league’s most successful franchises. The match is celebrated as one of the most thrilling finales in PSL history, showcasing the team’s resilience and strategic prowess.
