KPK launches interest-free loans for skilled youth

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has introduced the Ehsaas Hunar Program, aiming to empower skilled youth by providing interest-free business loans.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and the Bank of Khyber (BoK) to facilitate this initiative. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Technical Education, Tufail Anjum, highlighted that the program is a flagship project designed to support the province’s youth in establishing their own businesses.

Key Features of the Ehsaas Hunar Program:

  • Budget Allocation: Over Rs3 billion has been designated for the project, with Rs200 million allocated for the fiscal year 2024-25.
  • Loan Details: Approximately 35,000 skilled individuals aged between 18 and 40 will have access to interest-free loans up to Rs500,000, repayable in 36 installments.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be residents of K-P with a recognized skill certificate or diploma.

This initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and reducing unemployment among the youth.
