  • CM Gandapur calls Centre’s refugee repatriation policy ‘inhumane’ and blames ‘preoccupied with PTI’ institutions for terror revival On Sunday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said his government would determine whether to expel Afghans after March 31 and follow Centre directions. Afghan Citizen Card holders must leave Pakistan willingly by March 31 or be deported by the federal government. Mr. Gandapur called the federal repatriation strategy ‘inhumane and oppressive’. “I am not in favour of Afghans’ repatriation as per the federal government’s policy,” the chief minister told reporters. When the deadline [March 31] would reach,” Mr Gandapur said he would determine whether to forcefully repatriate Afghans as KP CEO. “I will decide what suits me, suits the culture and traditions of KP,” he stated of expelling Afghans. He called it “wrong and inhuman” to forcefully return Afghans without a plan. Afghans were driven back home when they had no facility in their country, a “violation of basic human rights”. CM Gandapur said that the federal government had not contacted him on this subject, but he was chastised for suggesting negotiations with Afghanistan, even though the federal government had previously agreed with him.Chief minister blamed the state and its institutions for the rise in militancy at a press conference. He accused the state and its institutions of “wasting their energies in dismantling and breaking the PTI and creating rifts in its leadership”. The KP CM stated the state and its institutions were neglecting law and order and militancy. He claimed it caused terrorism. He stated, “Today, I openly say that resurgence in militancy is the failure of the authorities at the helm of affairs and incompetency of the federal government and institutions.” He advised the state and its institutions to make wise law and order decisions.
