Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has rejected the summary for appointing an additional adviser to the provincial cabinet.
On Sunday, an official from the Governor’s House Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported that Governor Kundi had returned the summary for the appointment of a sixth adviser. The governor cited Section 130(11) of the Constitution, which limits the number of advisers a chief minister can appoint to five. Consequently, the summary was sent back to the KP government.
The governor typically approves adviser appointments when the summary is submitted by the chief minister. It remains to be seen how Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his cabinet will respond to the governor’s rejection. Despite both being from the same Dera Ismail Khan district, the governor and chief minister have been at odds since the beginning. The chief minister has frequently criticized the governor, and Governor Kundi has been outspoken against the provincial government, accusing it of failing to address law and order and other essential issues.
