Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has responded to the widespread criticism of his recent production, Nadaaniyan, which marked the Bollywood debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan and featured Khushi Kapoor in a leading role. The film faced significant backlash for its dialogues and performances, prompting discussions about nepotism and the challenges faced by star children in the industry.
During the trailer launch event for his upcoming production, Akaal, Johar addressed the negative reception by quoting a classic Bollywood song: “Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna,” suggesting that public opinion is inevitable. He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between constructive criticism from professional critics and personal attacks from anonymous online trolls.
Johar expressed concern over the harshness of some critiques, highlighting that actors are human beings with families who read these comments. He urged critics to be mindful of their words, especially when addressing newcomers in the industry. Despite the backlash, Johar remains supportive of the young actors and continues to promote his upcoming projects, including his first venture into Punjabi cinema with Akaal, directed by Gippy Grewal.
