Widespread protests against prolonged electricity outages led to severe traffic disruptions across multiple areas of Karachi.
Key routes such as Mai Kolachi Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Korangi Road, and roads around Teen and Do Talwar were significantly impacted, with heavy vehicles abandoned mid-road, creating major traffic jams.
Earlier on Monday, a large crowd, including women and children, staged a sit-in protest on Hawkes Bay Road near Mauripur Main Bazar, blocking traffic to express frustration over the lack of electricity and water. The 10-hour protest resulted in severe traffic chaos, leaving long lines of vehicles stranded and commuters facing significant challenges.
Protesters also gathered in the Punjab Colony area, blocking roads and causing gridlocks on major routes like Mai Kolachi Road, Boat Basin, Teen Talwar, and Do Talwar, with long queues of vehicles as commuters struggled to navigate through the congestion.
Similar demonstrations occurred in Railway Colony near II Chundrigar Road and Shaheen Complex, where residents voiced their frustration over persistent power cuts.
In response, traffic police redirected vehicles from Khajoor Chowk to Aiwan-e-Sadar Road, MR Kayani Chowk to SM Law College and Jang Press, and Tower to Shaheen Chowk, advising citizens to take alternative routes to avoid delays.
