Karachi man gets nine years for sharing explicit videos of a woman on WhatsApp

On Friday, a judicial magistrate sentenced Lutuf Ali to nine years in prison for sharing obscene videos of a TikToker on WhatsApp.

Judicial Magistrate (East) Yusra Ashfaq found Ali guilty of offenses against the complainant’s dignity and modesty, as well as cyberstalking under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.

The court’s verdict highlighted that Ali recorded the videos to exert pressure on the complainant and used them for harassment and intimidation. The evidence, including digital communications, showed a deliberate intent to harm and degrade the complainant.

The court noted that Ali’s actions tarnished the complainant’s dignity, violated her modesty, and involved the unauthorized creation and distribution of obscene content.

The complainant, a TikTok star, testified that after collaborating with Ali on projects, she was invited to work on a telefilm. During a trip to Larkana, Ali drugged her and her mother, recorded explicit videos, and later shared them, including with her uncle.

The FIA prosecutor confirmed the consistency of witness testimonies and forensic evidence with the complainant’s account. In contrast, the defense argued that the complainant had falsely implicated Ali due to a financial dispute and alleged that she had stolen his phone.

The court rejected the defense’s claims, noting a lack of supporting evidence and discrepancies in the defense’s arguments.

A case was filed against Ali at the FIA Cyber Crime Wing under sections 20, 21, and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
