Karachi and Lahore airspace reopened after 48-hour suspension

After a 48-hour suspension, airspace over Karachi and Lahore has been reopened, allowing normal flight operations to resume. The closure was imposed due to security concerns following Indian airstrikes on Pakistani territory, which led to precautionary measures being taken by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The Civil Aviation Authority issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirming the resumption of all flight routes in the affected regions. However, passengers are advised to confirm flight details with their airlines, as schedule adjustments and rerouting may still apply.

The airspace had been shut down on May 5, 2025, after India’s missile attacks targeted several locations in Pakistan. Major airports, including Islamabad International, were placed on high alert, and many incoming flights were redirected to alternate airports. Security measures were also increased at airports in cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Multan, and Faisalabad.

With the airspace now reopened, the aviation sector is gradually returning to normal, though some airlines may take time to fully restore their services as the situation stabilizes.
