Junaid Akbar quits PAC’s chairman role

Junaid Akbar, a National Assembly member from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stepped down from his role as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) following instructions from PTI’s founding leader, Imran Khan. The decision is part of the party’s broader plan to realign leadership responsibilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

In a video message, Akbar confirmed his resignation, emphasizing that he remains committed to following the party’s direction. He said he was willing to leave any post, including his seat in the National Assembly or his current KP leadership role, if Imran Khan advised it.

The party’s information secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, revealed that the message from Khan was passed on through his sister, Aleema Khan, during her recent visit to Adiala Jail. She then told Salman Akram Raja about it. Omar Ayub Khan has since been named the new head of the PAC by the PTI.
