In preparation for the February 18, 2025, high-level United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on “Practicing Multilateralism: Reforming and Improving Global Governance,” Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in New York.
Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, and other officials greeted Dar at the airport. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will preside over the meeting, which China called under its rotating presidency.
Pakistan has supported this effort, highlighting the value of multilateralism in tackling global issues. Dar will reiterate Pakistan’s support for the UN’s mission to advance global peace, security, and sustainable development in his speech. In addition, he will discuss Pakistan’s goals as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2025–2026 term, promoting inclusive government, collaboration, and communication.
