Indian helicopter crash kills five

Officials reported five deaths and two major injuries in a helicopter crash near Ganganani in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, on Thursday morning.

The chopper carrying six tourists and a pilot crashed in a mountainous area near Indo-China. The crash’s cause is unknown.

“After receiving the alert, relief and rescue teams rushed to the site,” said Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey. “The two injured passengers were taken for urgent medical treatment.”

Local authorities photographed the helicopter’s shattered interior and bloody seats. The crash site is surrounded by emergency personnel, including SDRF and district administration officials.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered his sympathies to the victims’ families and ordered an investigation. He wrote on social media, “The extremely distressing news has been received about the loss of lives in a helicopter crash near Gangnani.” SDRF and district administration teams are at the accident site for rescue and assistance.

The chief minister said he is in close contact with officials and has ordered the administration to help the injured.
