India-Pakistan tensions escalate with air base strikes

India attacked Pakistani air bases with missiles early on Saturday. According to the Pakistani military, the strikes were directed at Pakistan Air Force bases in Nur Khan, Murid, and Rafiqui. Despite the attack, the armed forces reported no losses to their assets, crediting their air defense systems for intercepting most of the missiles.

The Pakistani military’s spokesperson criticized India, claiming the actions were pushing the region closer to war. Pakistan’s air defense successfully intercepted most missiles, and initial assessments indicated minimal damage to the targeted facilities. The strikes were linked to broader intentions of escalating regional instability, according to military sources.

By early morning, Pakistan had launched a counteroffensive named “Bunyan-un-Marsoos.” This included targeted attacks on Indian military facilities, reportedly destroying storage for BrahMos missiles and air bases in Pathankot and Udhampur. The operation was confirmed by Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, who described it as a forceful reaction to India’s provocations.

Officials emphasized that Pakistan’s countermeasures focused on military targets to minimize civilian impact, contrasting with their claims of India’s disregard for civilian safety. The situation has triggered heightened tensions, with both sides trading accusations of aggression.

Meanwhile, a series of cyberattacks further intensified the conflict. Several key Indian websites and surveillance systems were reportedly compromised, adding a digital dimension to the ongoing confrontation.

Government and military representatives in Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to defending the nation, citing these retaliatory actions as necessary due to escalating hostilities. However, officials left the door open for de-escalation, depending on India’s actions moving forward.
