Sources claim that Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), approved of holding negotiations with the establishment and assigned the work to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his adviser Barrister Saif as the party still struggles on political and legal front.
According to the sources, Gandapur and Saif persuaded the PTI founder to go for talks; following this, he assigned them the work on Wednesday.
Negotiations will stay secret until any advancement is achieved, it has been decided. To forward the conversations, Khan and Gandapur are set to have another meeting in the next days.
After over one and a half months, Gandapur paid Khan a call on Wednesday from Adiala jail. Speaking for two and a half hours, the two covered institutional disputes and social media criticism of party leadership.
The KP CM also gave Khan provincial updates. Gandapur and Saif departed the jail after the conference without talking to the press.
The development follows days after PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar refuted rumors regarding a contract with the institution, therefore restating that the party had only restored contacts.
The PTI head had declared unequivocally that final negotiations with the establishment had not yet started and that the talk of an agreement was unfounded, disconnected from reality on ground level.
Since they were also anticipated in January following a meeting between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Gohar and Gandapur, this is not the first time the PTI-establishment negotiations have become buzz of the town.
No negotiations:
PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram rejected statements of the conference, stating that fake information was being shared.
“No one went to convince the PTI founder to negotiate,” he said Geo News, rejecting Khan’s assigning of anyone with talks.
He denounced attempts to distort facts for the advantage of the administration and highlighted that Khan’s conversation with Gandapur focused on issues pertaining to provinces and party affairs.
“Gandapur will show Khan’s orders before the party’s political committee,” Akram said.

Aleema bemoaned the selective implementation of meeting rules in response to the PTI leaders’ meeting with the former PM, claiming that jail authorities had expressly told them family meetings were not permitted during gazetted holidays.
“We were not let meet our brother; yesterday, April 1, was a gazetted holiday. We met him last on March 20. We also banned access on March 27, she claimed on X in a post.
Aleema also questioned why family members were denied entry while others were allowed.
“Are the family-only gazetted holiday restrictions? Imran is also prohibited from talking to his sons, hence we have not been let to meet him.”
