IHC Acting Chief Justice Orders Inquiry into Alleged Gratuity Demands by Court Staff
Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfaraz Dogar, took notice on Friday of a judge’s letter accusing court staff of soliciting ‘gratuity’ from lawyers and litigants.
In response, Justice Dogar formed a two-member committee to investigate the matter.
The letter, written by Justice Babar Sattar and circulated among IHC judges on Thursday, alleged that staff transferred from other high courts were demanding handouts from counsels and petitioners.
Justice Sattar suggested that the IHC registrar review security footage from the past few weeks to verify the claims and recommended strict action against those found guilty.
The matter was presented to the acting chief justice, who promptly initiated an inquiry. The committee, comprising Registrar Yar Muhammad Walana and Additional Registrar Rai Muhammad Khan, has been directed to submit a detailed report within three days.
