More than 120 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were granted bail and ordered to be released immediately by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). They were detained during the demonstration on November 26.
Detainees’ attorneys Ali Bukhari, Babar Awan, and Murtaza Toori appeared before a division bench that included Justice Muhammad Asif and Acting Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar to hear the bail petitions.
After posting PKR 20,000 surety bonds, the court released the defendants and ordered them to go to the police station to sign an affidavit promising not to do anything illegal again.
Efforts were made to secure the release of some PTI workers who were arrested during the demonstration.
