Iffat Omar declines Punjab government’s cultural adviser role

Iffat Omar turned down an offer from the Punjab government to serve as information minister Azma Bokhari’s cultural advisor; she was a former model and actor. The news of her appointment prompted Omar to confirm, “I’ve gently declined the offer.”

This role was to collaborate with the Ministry of Information in organizing events that highlight the rich cultural legacy of Punjab. The government has yet to provide further comments on her decision.

Previously, Omar announced stepping away from acting in 2022, citing dissatisfaction with the quality of available projects. She expressed the possibility of returning only for an exceptional script. Currently, she hosts a YouTube podcast, Say It All With Iffat Omar, featuring discussions with experts from diverse fields.

Her decision to decline reflects a continued focus on personal priorities and her evolving career path, which now leans heavily toward social media and public discourse.
