Heavy rains and storms expected in Punjab and KP, PDMA issues weather alert

In response to severe weather conditions, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alerts for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), warning of heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected to persist until May 4. The directive comes under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, emphasizing the need for heightened preparedness across affected regions.

The PDMA has identified several districts at risk, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Dera Ghazi Khan, with southern areas like Multan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar also facing potential storms. Residents are advised to stay indoors during severe weather and report emergencies via the PDMA helpline 1129.

In KP, districts such as Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, and Mansehra are forecasted to experience similar conditions, with the PDMA KP issuing corresponding alerts. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to mitigate risks associated with the ongoing weather system.
