Melting snow from surrounding mountains caused a high-level flood in Chitral’s Ghot Gol stream, prompting authorities to evacuate local residents to safety. While no casualties were reported thanks to swift actions, the flood inflicted heavy damage on crops and roads in the area.
The flooding also forced the Peshawar-Chitral Road to shut down near Drosh, disrupting all traffic. Efforts are underway to evaluate the destruction and reconnect the impacted regions.
