As national economic indicators remained positive, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said Sunday that the government would reduce salaried workers’ financial burden in the upcoming budget.
Aurangzeb told the media at Special Olympics Pakistan’s Unified Marathon in Lahore that the federal budget 2025-26 was being prepared with business.
“We have started working on this year’s budget after discussions with the business community,” he said. “While the government is doing its part, the real driver of the country’s progress is the private sector,” he added.
The government must support the private sector with stable and consistent policies, he added. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was also reforming to encourage tax compliance, reduce manufacturing costs, and help salaried workers.
The minister said the economy was stable and growing. “The stock market is performing well, economic indicators are positive, the currency is stable, and foreign exchange reserves have increased,” he said.
“All sectors must contribute to economic growth,” he said, stressing that the private sector plays a crucial role in driving progress. “Sustainable growth must be maintainedspeculation will not work,” he added.
Aurangzeb also acknowledged the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, expressing gratitude for their remittances. He predicted $35 billion in remittances this year and sustained growth in the Roshan Digital Account.
