Fatima Sana to captain Pakistan in Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed 22-year-old all-rounder Fatima Sana as the captain of the national women’s cricket team for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. Fatima, who has represented Pakistan in 41 ODIs and 40 T20Is, previously led the team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE.

The squad for the qualifiers includes vice-captain Muneeba Ali, seasoned all-rounder Aliya Riaz—who, despite being omitted from the women’s central contracts last November, has been selected for the team—and Shawal Zulfiqar, who is returning from injury.

The qualifiers are a crucial step for Pakistan to secure a spot in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Fatima’s leadership, combined with the experience and talent within the squad, aims to guide the team through this challenging tournament.
